2025-08-19misc: rtsx: usb card reader: add OCP supportRicky Wu1-1/+4
This patch adds support for Over Current Protection (OCP) to the Realtek USB card reader driver. The OCP mechanism protects the hardware by detecting and handling current overload conditions. This implementation includes: - Register configurations to enable OCP monitoring. - Handling of OCP interrupt events and associated error reporting. - Card power management changes in response to OCP triggers. This enhancement improves the robustness of the driver when operating in environments where electrical anomalies may occur, particularly with SD and MS card interfaces. 2025-08-18memstick: Fix deadlock by moving removing flag earlierJiayi Li1-0/+1
The existing memstick core patch: commit 62c59a8786e6 ("memstick: Skip allocating card when removing host") sets host->removing in memstick_remove_host(),but still exists a critical time window where memstick_check can run after host->eject is set but before removing is set. In the rtsx_usb_ms driver, the problematic sequence is: rtsx_usb_ms_drv_remove: memstick_check: host->eject = true cancel_work_sync(handle_req) if(!host->removing) ... memstick_alloc_card() memstick_set_rw_addr() memstick_new_req() rtsx_usb_ms_request() if(!host->eject) skip schedule_work wait_for_completion() memstick_remove_host: [blocks indefinitely] host->removing = true flush_workqueue() [block] 1. rtsx_usb_ms_drv_remove sets host->eject = true 2. cancel_work_sync(&host->handle_req) runs 3. memstick_check work may be executed here <-- danger window 4. memstick_remove_host sets removing = 1 During this window (step 3), memstick_check calls memstick_alloc_card, which may indefinitely waiting for mrq_complete completion that will never occur because rtsx_usb_ms_request sees eject=true and skips scheduling work, memstick_set_rw_addr waits forever for completion. This causes a deadlock when memstick_remove_host tries to flush_workqueue, waiting for memstick_check to complete, while memstick_check is blocked waiting for mrq_complete completion. Fix this by setting removing=true at the start of rtsx_usb_ms_drv_remove, before any work cancellation. This ensures memstick_check will see the removing flag immediately and exit early, avoiding the deadlock. 2024-12-01Get rid of 'remove_new' relic from platform driver structLinus Torvalds1-1/+1
The continual trickle of small conversion patches is grating on me, and is really not helping. Just get rid of the 'remove_new' member function, which is just an alias for the plain 'remove', and had a comment to that effect: /* * .remove_new() is a relic from a prototype conversion of .remove(). * New drivers are supposed to implement .remove(). Once all drivers are * converted to not use .remove_new any more, it will be dropped. */ This was just a tree-wide 'sed' script that replaced '.remove_new' with '.remove', with some care taken to turn a subsequent tab into two tabs to make things line up. I did do some minimal manual whitespace adjustment for places that used spaces to line things up. Then I just removed the old (sic) .remove_new member function, and this is the end result. 2024-04-25memstick: rtsx_usb_ms: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König1-4/+2
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new(), which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove(). Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. 2024-04-25memstick: rtsx_pci_ms: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidUwe Kleine-König1-4/+2
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new(), which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove(). Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant. 2021-10-12memstick: jmb38x_ms: Prefer struct_size over open coded arithmeticLen Baker1-2/+1
As noted in the "Deprecated Interfaces, Language Features, Attributes, and Conventions" documentation [1], size calculations (especially multiplication) should not be performed in memory allocator (or similar) function arguments due to the risk of them overflowing. This could lead to values wrapping around and a smaller allocation being made than the caller was expecting. Using those allocations could lead to linear overflows of heap memory and other misbehaviors. So, use the struct_size() helper to do the arithmetic instead of the argument "size + count * size" in the kzalloc() function. Drivers using legacy PM have to manage PCI states and device's PM states themselves. They also need to take care of configuration registers. With improved and powerful support of generic PM, PCI Core takes care of above mentioned, device-independent, jobs. This driver makes use of PCI helper functions like pci_save/restore_state(), pci_enable/disable_device(), pci_set_power_state() and pci_set_master() to do required operations. In generic mode, they are no longer needed. Change function parameter in both .suspend() and .resume() to "struct device*" type. Use to_pci_dev() and dev_get_drvdata() to get "struct pci_dev*" variable and drv data. Compile-tested only. Using uninitialized_var() is dangerous as it papers over real bugs[1] (or can in the future), and suppresses unrelated compiler warnings (e.g. "unused variable"). If the compiler thinks it is uninitialized, either simply initialize the variable or make compiler changes. In preparation for removing[2] the[3] macro[4], remove all remaining needless uses with the following script: git grep '\buninitialized_var\b' | cut -d: -f1 | sort -u | \ xargs perl -pi -e \ 's/\buninitialized_var\(([^\)]+)\)/\1/g; s:\s*/\* (GCC be quiet|to make compiler happy) \*/$::g;' drivers/video/fbdev/riva/riva_hw.c was manually tweaked to avoid pathological white-space. No outstanding warnings were found building allmodconfig with GCC 9.3.0 for x86_64, i386, arm64, arm, powerpc, powerpc64le, s390x, mips, sparc64, alpha, and m68k.
