2026-04-02accel/ivpu: Trigger recovery on TDR with OS schedulingKarol Wachowski1-0/+6
With OS scheduling mode the driver cannot determine which context caused the timeout, so context abort cannot be used. Instead of queuing context_abort_work, directly trigger full device recovery when a job timeout (TDR) occurs in OS scheduling mode. Fixes: ade00a6c903f ("accel/ivpu: Perform engine reset instead of device recovery on TDR") Reviewed-by: Jeff Hugo <jeff.hugo@oss.qualcomm.com> Reviewed-by: Lizhi Hou <lizhi.hou@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Karol Wachowski <karol.wachowski@linux.intel.com> Link: https://patch.msgid.link/20260402125526.845210-1-karol.wachowski@linux.intel.com
2026-03-20accel/ivpu: Perform engine reset instead of device recovery on TDRKarol Wachowski1-6/+9
Replace full device recovery on TDR timeout with per-context abort, allowing individual context handling instead of resetting the entire device. Extend ivpu_jsm_reset_engine() to return the list of contexts impacted by the engine reset and use that information to abort only the affected contexts. Only check for potentially faulty contexts when the engine reset was not triggered by an MMU fault or a job completion error status. This prevents misidentifying non-guilty contexts that happened to be running at the time of the fault. Trigger full device recovery if no contexts were marked by engine reset if triggered by job completion timeout, as there is no way to identify guilty one. Add engine reset counter to debugfs for engine resets bookkeeping for debugging/testing purposes. 2026-01-08accel/ivpu: Implement warm boot flow for NPU6 and unify boot handlingKarol Wachowski1-5/+8
Starting from NPU6, the driver can pass boot parameters address through the AON retention register and toggle between cold/warm boot types using the boot_type parameter, while setting the cold boot entry point in both cases. Refactor the existing cold/warm boot handling to be consistent with the new NPU6 boot flow requirements and still maintain compatibility with older boot flows. This will allow firmware to remove support for legacy warm boot starting from NPU6. 2025-10-30accel/ivpu: replace use of system_wq with system_percpu_wqMarco Crivellari1-1/+2
Currently if a user enqueue a work item using schedule_delayed_work() the used wq is "system_wq" (per-cpu wq) while queue_delayed_work() use WORK_CPU_UNBOUND (used when a cpu is not specified). The same applies to schedule_work() that is using system_wq and queue_work(), that makes use again of WORK_CPU_UNBOUND. This lack of consistency cannot be addressed without refactoring the API. system_wq should be the per-cpu workqueue, yet in this name nothing makes that clear, so replace system_wq with system_percpu_wq. The old wq (system_wq) will be kept for a few release cycles. 2025-10-30accel/ivpu: replace use of system_unbound_wq with system_dfl_wqMarco Crivellari1-1/+1

The same applies to schedule_work() that is using system_wq and queue_work(), that makes use again of WORK_CPU_UNBOUND. This lack of consistency cannot be addressed without refactoring the API. system_unbound_wq should be the default workqueue so as not to enforce locality constraints for random work whenever it's not required. 2025-09-25accel/ivpu: Split FW runtime and global memory buffersKarol Wachowski1-1/+1
Split firmware boot parameters (4KB) and FW version (4KB) into dedicated buffer objects, separating them from the FW runtime memory buffer. This creates three distinct buffers with independent allocation control. This enables future modifications, particularly allowing the FW image memory to be moved into a read-only buffer. Fix user range starting address from incorrect 0x88000000 (2GB + 128MB) overlapping global aperture on 37XX to intended 0xa0000000 (2GB + 512MB). This caused no issues as FW aligned this range to 512MB anyway, but corrected for consistency. Convert ivpu_hw_range_init() from inline helper to function with overflow validation to prevent potential security issues from address range arithmetic overflows. 2025-09-01accel/ivpu: Prevent recovery work from being queued during device removalKarol Wachowski1-2/+2
Use disable_work_sync() instead of cancel_work_sync() in ivpu_dev_fini() to ensure that no new recovery work items can be queued after device removal has started. 2025-04-25accel/ivpu: Implement heartbeat-based TDR mechanismKarol Wachowski1-0/+20
Introduce a heartbeat-based Timeout Detection and Recovery (TDR) mechanism. The enhancement aims to improve the reliability of device hang detection by monitoring heartbeat updates. Each progressing inference will update heartbeat counter allowing driver to monitor its progression. Limit maximum number of reschedules when heartbeat indicates progression to 30. This increases the maximum running time of single inference to about 60 seconds. The heartbeat mechanism provides a more robust method for detecting device hangs, potentially reducing false positive recoveries due to long running inferences. When host system is under heavy load and the NPU is already running on the lowest frequency, PUNIT may request Duty Cycle Throttling (DCT). This will further reduce NPU power usage. 2024-02-12PM: runtime: Simplify pm_runtime_get_if_active() usageSakari Ailus1-1/+1
There are two ways to opportunistically increment a device's runtime PM usage count, calling either pm_runtime_get_if_active() or pm_runtime_get_if_in_use(). The former has an argument to tell whether to ignore the usage count or not, and the latter simply calls the former with ign_usage_count set to false. The other users that want to ignore the usage_count will have to explicitly set that argument to true which is a bit cumbersome. To make this function more practical to use, remove the ign_usage_count argument from the function. The main implementation is in a static function called pm_runtime_get_conditional() and implementations of pm_runtime_get_if_active() and pm_runtime_get_if_in_use() are moved to runtime.c. 2024-02-12accel/ivpu: Fix DevTLB errors on suspend/resume and recoveryJacek Lawrynowicz1-17/+22
Issue IP reset before shutdown in order to complete all upstream requests to the SOC. Without this DevTLB is complaining about incomplete transactions and NPU cannot resume from suspend. This problem is only happening on recent IFWI releases. IP reset in rare corner cases can mess up PCI configuration, so save it before the reset. After this happens it is also impossible to issue PLL requests and D0->D3->D0 cycle is needed to recover the NPU. Add WP 0 request on power up, so the PUNIT is always notified about NPU reset. Use D0/D3 cycle for recovery as it can recover from failed IP reset and FLR cannot.
