Pull modules updates from Sami Tolvanen:
- Add a missing return value check for module_extend_max_pages() to
prevent a kernel oops on memory allocation failure.
- Force sh_addr to 0 for architecture-specific module sections on arm,
arm64, m68k, and riscv. This prevents non-zero section addresses when
linking modules with ld.bfd -r, which may cause tools to misbehave
and result in worse compressibility.

Pull misc vfs updates from Christian Brauner:
"Features:
- Reduce pipe->mutex contention by pre-allocating pages outside the
lock in anon_pipe_write().
anon_pipe_write() called alloc_page() once per page while holding
pipe->mutex. The allocation can sleep doing direct reclaim and runs
memcg charging, which extends the critical section and stalls any
concurrent reader on the same mutex. Now up to 8 pages are
pre-allocated before the mutex is taken, leftovers are recycled
into the per-pipe tmp_page[] cache before unlock, and any remainder
is released after unlock, keeping the allocator out of the critical
section on both sides. On a writers x readers sweep with 64KB
writes against a 1 MB pipe throughput improves 6-28% and average
write latency drops 5-22%; under memory pressure - when the cost of
holding the mutex across reclaim is highest - throughput improves
21-48% and latency drops 17-33%. The microbenchmark is added to
selftests.
- uaccess/sockptr: fix the ignored_trailing logic in
copy_struct_to_user() to behave as documented and the usize check
in copy_struct_from_sockptr() for user pointers, and add
copy_struct_{from,to}_bounce_buffer() and copy_struct_to_sockptr()
helpers for upcoming users (IPPROTO_SMBDIRECT, IPPROTO_QUIC).
- bpf: add a sleepable bpf_real_inode() kfunc that resolves the real
inode backing a dentry via d_real_inode(). On overlayfs the inode
attached to the dentry doesn't carry the underlying device
information; this is used by the filesystem restriction BPF program
that was merged into systemd.
- docs: add guidelines for submitting new filesystems, motivated by
the maintenance burden abandoned and untestable filesystems impose
on VFS developers, blocking infrastructure work like folio
conversions and iomap migration.
Fixes:
- libfs: set SB_I_NOEXEC and SB_I_NODEV by default in init_pseudo()
and drop the now-redundant assignments in callers. This began as a
one-line dma-buf fix for a path_noexec() warning; a pseudo
filesystem has no reason not to set SB_I_NOEXEC. All init_pseudo()
callers were audited: the only visible effect is on dma-buf where
SB_I_NOEXEC silences the warning.
- Handle set_blocksize() failures in legacy filesystems (bfs, hpfs,
qnx4, jfs, befs, affs, isofs, minix, ntfs3, omfs). Mounting a
device with a sector size > PAGE_SIZE crashed roughly half of them;
the rest had the same missing error handling pattern. Plus a
follow-up releasing the superblock buffer_head when setting the
minix v3 block size fails.
- mount: honour SB_NOUSER in the new mount API.
- fs/fcntl: fix a SOFTIRQ-unsafe lock order in fasync signaling by
switching the process-group paths of send_sigio() and send_sigurg()
from read_lock(&tasklist_lock) to RCU, matching the single-PID
path.
- vfs: add an FS_USERNS_DELEGATABLE flag and set it for NFS, fixing
delegated NFS mounts (fsopen() in a container with the mount
performed by a privileged daemon) that broke when non-init
s_user_ns was tied to FS_USERNS_MOUNT.
- selftests/namespaces: fix a hang in nsid_test where an unreaped
grandchild kept the TAP pipe write-end open, a waitpid(-1) race in
listns_efault_test, and a false FAIL on kernels without listns()
where the tests should SKIP.
- filelock: fix the break_lease() stub signature for
CONFIG_FILE_LOCKING=n.
- init/initramfs_test: wait for the async initramfs unpacking before
running; the test and do_populate_rootfs() share the parser state.
- fs/coredump: reduce redundant log noise in
validate_coredump_safety().
- iomap: pass the correct length to fserror_report_io() in
__iomap_write_begin().
- backing-file: fix the backing_file_open() kerneldoc.
Cleanups:
- initramfs: refactor the cpio hex header parsing to use hex2bin()
instead of the hand-rolled simple_strntoul() which is reverted, and
extend the initramfs KUnit tests to cover header fields with 0x
prefixes.
- Replace __get_free_pages() and friends with kmalloc()/kzalloc()
across quota, proc, ocfs2/dlm, nilfs2, nfs, nfsd, libfs, jfs, jbd2,
isofs, fuse, select, namespace, configfs, binfmt_misc, bfs, and the
do_mounts init code - part of the larger work of replacing page
allocator calls with kmalloc().
- Use clear_and_wake_up_bit() in unlock_buffer() and
journal_end_buffer_io_sync() instead of open-coding the sequence.
- Drop unused VFS exports: unexport drop_super_exclusive(), remove
start_removing_user_path_at(), and fold __start_removing_path()
into start_removing_path().
- fs/read_write: narrow the __kernel_write() export with
EXPORT_SYMBOL_FOR_MODULES().
- vfs: uapi: retire octal and hex constants in favor of (1 << n) for
the O_ flags. Finding a free bit for a new flag across the
architectures was needlessly hard with the mixed bases.
- dcache: add extra sanity checks of dead dentries in dentry_free()
via a new DENTRY_WARN_ONCE() that also prints d_flags.
- iov_iter: use kmemdup_array() in dup_iter() to harden the
allocation against multiplication overflow.
- fs/pipe: write to ->poll_usage only once.
- vfs: remove an always-taken if-branch in find_next_fd().
- dcache: use kmalloc_flex() for struct external_name in __d_alloc().
- namei: use QSTR() instead of QSTR_INIT() in path_pts().
- sync_file_range: delete dead S_ISLNK code.

For CPUs before ARMv6, __raw_readw() and __raw_writew() are implemented
as C volatile halfword accesses so the compiler can generate an access
sequence that is safe for those machines. With KASAN enabled, those C
accesses are instrumented as normal memory accesses.
That is not valid for MMIO. On ARM926/VersatilePB with KASAN enabled,
PL011 probing traps in __asan_store2() while registering the UART, because
the instrumented writew() tries to check KASAN shadow for an MMIO address.
Keep the existing volatile halfword access, but move the ARMv5 definitions
into __no_kasan_or_inline functions so raw MMIO halfword accesses are not
instrumented by KASAN. The ARMv6-and-newer inline assembly path is
unchanged.

The do_bad_IRQ() macro simply calls handle_bad_irq() with a lock around
it. It also carries a comment stating that uses of it should be
replaced. According to commit aec0095653cd ("irqchip: gic: Call
handle_bad_irq() directly"), which replaced another use of
do_bad_IRQ(), locking the IRQ descriptor is not necessary for error
reporting. Therefore, replace all uses of do_bad_IRQ() with calls to
handle_bad_irq() and remove do_bad_IRQ().

A recent build failure[1] exposed the diffculty of working with the
current octal and hex definitions of O_ flags when trying to find a gap
for a new flag. This difficulty is compounded by the fact that O_ flags
may have architectural specific values.
Replace the hex/octal #defines, which are hard to parse when looking for
free bits, with explicit bit shifts like (1 << 11). Also, add comments
that identify which architectures redefine some of the seemingly free
("cursed") bits in uapi/asm-generic/fcntl.h. These should not be used to
define new O_ flags (for now, at least).
The translastion was done with Claude Opus 4.8, and verified with a
(non-AI) gawk script. The accounting of which architectures claim
which bit-gaps in uapi/asm-generic/fcntl.h is also done by hand.

The kernel allows arches to select between inline and outline
implementations of the copy_{from,to}_user() by defining individual
INLINE_COPY_FROM_USER and INLINE_COPY_TO_USER, correspondingly. However,
all arches enable or disable them always together.
Without the real use-case for one helper being inlined while the other
outlined, having independent controls is excessive and error prone.
Switch the codebase to the single unified INLINE_COPY_USER control.

Add a header asm/neon-intrinsics.h similar to the one that arm64 has.
This makes it possible for NEON intrinsics code to be shared seamlessly
between ARM and arm64.

When linking modules with 'ld.bfd -r', sections defined without an address
inherit the location counter, resulting in non-zero sh_addr values in the
resulting .ko files. Relocatable objects are expected to have sh_addr=0 for
all sections. Non-zero addresses are confusing in this context, typically
worse compressible, and may cause tools to misbehave [1].
Force sh_addr=0 for all arm-specific module sections.

On real hardware, panic and machine reboot may not flush hardware cache
to memory. This means the persistent ring buffer, which relies on a
coherent state of memory, may not have its events written to the buffer
and they may be lost. Moreover, there may be inconsistency with the
counters which are used for validation of the integrity of the
persistent ring buffer which may cause all data to be discarded.
To avoid this issue, stop recording of the ring buffer on panic and
flush the cache of the ring buffer's memory.

While the GCC and Clang compilers already define __ASSEMBLER__
automatically when compiling assembly code, __ASSEMBLY__ is a macro that
only gets defined by the Makefiles in the kernel.
This can be very confusing when switching between userspace and kernelspace
coding, or when dealing with uapi headers that rather should use
__ASSEMBLER__ instead.
Standardize now on the __ASSEMBLER__ macro that is provided by the
compilers.

"The XOR library used for the RAID5 parity is a bit of a mess right
now. The main file sits in crypto/ despite not being cryptography
and not using the crypto API, with the generic implementations
sitting in include/asm-generic and the arch implementations
sitting in an asm/ header in theory. The latter doesn't work for
many cases, so architectures often build the code directly into
the core kernel, or create another module for the architecture
code.
Change this to a single module in lib/ that also contains the
architecture optimizations, similar to the library work Eric
Biggers has done for the CRC and crypto libraries later. After
that it changes to better calling conventions that allow for
smarter architecture implementations (although none is contained
here yet), and uses static_call to avoid indirection function call
overhead"

"The biggest changes are MPAM enablement in drivers/resctrl and new PMU
support under drivers/perf.
On the core side, FEAT_LSUI lets futex atomic operations with EL0
permissions, avoiding PAN toggling.
The rest is mostly TLB invalidation refactoring, further generic entry
work, sysreg updates and a few fixes.
Core features:
- Add support for FEAT_LSUI, allowing futex atomic operations without
toggling Privileged Access Never (PAN)
- Further refactor the arm64 exception handling code towards the

In order to be able to do this, we need to change VM_DATA_DEFAULT_FLAGS
and friends and update the architecture-specific definitions also.
We then have to update some KSM logic to handle VMA flags, and introduce
VMA_STACK_FLAGS to define the vma_flags_t equivalent of VM_STACK_FLAGS.
We also introduce two helper functions for use during the time we are
converting legacy flags to vma_flags_t values - vma_flags_to_legacy() and
legacy_to_vma_flags().
This enables us to iteratively make changes to break these changes up into
separate parts.
We use these explicitly here to keep VM_STACK_FLAGS around for certain
users which need to maintain the legacy vm_flags_t values for the time
being.
We are no longer able to rely on the simple VM_xxx being set to zero if
the feature is not enabled, so in the case of VM_DROPPABLE we introduce
VMA_DROPPABLE as the vma_flags_t equivalent, which is set to
EMPTY_VMA_FLAGS if the droppable flag is not available.
While we're here, we make the description of do_brk_flags() into a kdoc
comment, as it almost was already.
We use vma_flags_to_legacy() to not need to update the vm_get_page_prot()
logic as this time.
Note that in create_init_stack_vma() we have to replace the BUILD_BUG_ON()
with a VM_WARN_ON_ONCE() as the tested values are no longer build time
available.
We also update mprotect_fixup() to use VMA flags where possible, though we
have to live with a little duplication between vm_flags_t and vma_flags_t
values for the time being until further conversions are made.
While we're here, update VM_SPECIAL to be defined in terms of
VMA_SPECIAL_FLAGS now we have vma_flags_to_legacy().
Finally, we update the VMA tests to reflect these changes.

Reduce 22 declarations of empty_zero_page to 3 and 23 declarations of
ZERO_PAGE() to 4.
Every architecture defines empty_zero_page that way or another, but for the
most of them it is always a page aligned page in BSS and most definitions
of ZERO_PAGE do virt_to_page(empty_zero_page).
Move Linus vetted x86 definition of empty_zero_page and ZERO_PAGE() to the
core MM and drop these definitions in architectures that do not implement
colored zero page (MIPS and s390).
ZERO_PAGE() remains a macro because turning it to a wrapper for a static
inline causes severe pain in header dependencies.
For the most part the change is mechanical, with these being noteworthy:
* alpha: aliased empty_zero_page with ZERO_PGE that was also used for boot
parameters. Switching to a generic empty_zero_page removes the aliasing
and keeps ZERO_PGE for boot parameters only
* arm64: uses __pa_symbol() in ZERO_PAGE() so that definition of
ZERO_PAGE() is kept intact.
* m68k/parisc/um: allocated empty_zero_page from memblock,
although they do not support zero page coloring and having it in BSS
will work fine.
* sparc64 can have empty_zero_page in BSS rather allocate it, but it
can't use virt_to_page() for BSS. Keep it's definition of ZERO_PAGE()
but instead of allocating it, make mem_map_zero point to
empty_zero_page.
* sh: used empty_zero_page for boot parameters at the very early boot.
Rename the parameters page to boot_params_page and let sh use the generic
empty_zero_page.
* hexagon: had an amusing comment about empty_zero_page
/* A handy thing to have if one has the RAM. Declared in head.S */
that unfortunately had to go :)

Move the asm/xor.h headers to lib/raid/xor/$(SRCARCH)/xor_arch.h and
include/linux/raid/xor_impl.h to lib/raid/xor/xor_impl.h so that the
xor.ko module implementation is self-contained in lib/raid/.
As this remove the asm-generic mechanism a new kconfig symbol is added to
indicate that a architecture-specific implementations exists, and
xor_arch.h should be included.

Move the optimized XOR into lib/raid and include it it in the main xor.ko
instead of building a separate module for it.
