Pull non-MM updates from Andrew Morton:
- "ocfs2/dlm: bound peer-controlled lengths in the o2dlm" (Bryam
Vargas)
Validate and bound all input lengths and count fields in the o2dlm
migration and recovery receive handlers to prevent memory corruption
and kernel panics from malformed cluster messages
- "ocfs2: validate xattr entry bounds" (Cen Zhang)
Validate OCFS2 extended attribute entry name and value bounds during
metadata reads to prevent out-of-range memory accesses during
retrieval or listing operations.
- "taskstats: fix cgroupstats invalid fd handling and add selftests"
(Yiyang Chen)
Return -EBADF when cgroupstats receives an invalid file descriptor to
prevent caller hangs and misleading success ACKs. Add a kselftest to
validate valid cgroup v1 queries and verify proper error handling
across different Netlink flag combinations.
- "misc lib/raid/ improvements v2" (Christoph Hellwig)
Improve benchmark-based algorithm selection for the XOR and RAID6
libraries, add KUnit benchmark tests, and cleanup minor
implementation details.
- "ocfs2: cluster: o2hb_region_pin() fixes" (Joseph Qi)
Fix sleeping-in-atomic, lock order inversion and error-path cleanup
bugs in o2hb_region_pin() by releasing o2hb_live_lock across sleeping
configfs_depend_item() calls and using unlocked variants from
callback context. Ensure failed pin attempts properly decrement user
counts and unpin partially initialized heartbeat regions to prevent
memory leaks and unprotected states.
- "lib/ucs2_string.c: fix out-of-bounds read in ucs2_strnlen()"
(Vincent Mailhol)
Fix an off-by-one which could cause an out-of-bounds read.
- "ocfs2: harden heartbeat teardown races" (Cen Zhang)
Fix two OCFS2 heartbeat/o2net teardown races found by KASAN.
- "taskstats: tidy up the cpumask command path" *Bradley Morgan)
make two small cleanups in kernel/taskstats.c.
- "ocfs2: validate active orphan slots during inode read" (ZhengYuan
Huang)
Validate active ordinary and append-DIO orphan slots read from OCFS2
dinodes at the metadata boundary to prevent corrupted slot indices
from causing out-of-bounds array accesses.
- "ocfs2: bound-check both readdir re-validation scans" (Zhan Xusheng)
Enforce strict boundary checks on directory entry record lengths and
offset calculations during OCFS2 directory re-scans to prevent
out-of-bounds memory reads and directory position corruption.

immediately after functions
It's customary for NOKPROBE_SYMBOL() macro usage to appear immediately
after a function's final closing brace, but checkpatch doesn't know that
yet. As a result, checkpatch --strict incorrectly flags this common
kernel pattern, e.g.,
CHECK: Please use a blank line after function/struct/union/enum declarations
33: FILE: arch/riscv/kernel/traps.c:273:
}
+NOKPROBE_SYMBOL(probe_single_step_handler);
Fix by adding NOKPROBE_SYMBOL to the whitelist of patterns that are
cleared to appear immediately after functions.

The USB and PCI device bindings define some compatible patterns based on
device IDs that use the comma to separate vendor and product IDs.
These prefix patterns include:
- ^usb(if)?[0-9a-f]{1,4},
- ^pci[0-9a-f]{2,4},
- ^pciclass,
These are not real vendor prefixes. Don't emit warnings for them.
Instead just skip over the DT compatible check altogether, and leave the
real check to the DT validator. This avoids false positive warnings about
undocumented DT vendor prefixes and compatibles.
Note that the script mostly only checks the first compatible string of
each node, as it processes the source file line-by-line, and the check
only matches on the line with 'compatible = "..."'. Otherwise there would
be more warnings from arch/mips/boot/dts/loongson/ls7a-pch.dtsi since that
file also includes compatibles like "pciclass0c0310" and "pciclass0c03"
which are not accepted either. "pci0014,7a24.0" is not valid either, but
this patch leaves the real check to the DT validator.

Add option --spdx-cxx-comments to not force C comments (/* */) for SPDX,
but allow also C++ comments (//).
As documented in aa19a176df95d6, this is required for some old toolchains
still have older assembler tools which cannot handle C++ style comments.
This avoids forcing this for projects which vendored checkpatch.pl (e.g.
LTP or u-boot).

checkpatch.pl searches for .checkpatch.conf in $CWD, $HOME and
$CWD/.scripts. Allow passing a single directory via CHECKPATCH_CONFIG_DIR
environment variable (empty value is ignored). This allows to directly
use project configuration file for projects which vendored checkpatch.pl
(e.g. LTP or u-boot).
Although it'd be more convenient for user to have --conf-dir option
(instead of using environment variable), code would get ugly because
options from the configuration file needs to be read before processing
command line options with Getopt::Long.
While at it, document directories and environment variable in -h help
and HTML doc.

It turns out that there are BPF use cases that rely on nesting RCU
Tasks Trace readers. These use cases are well-served by the old
rcu_read_lock_trace() and rcu_read_unlock_trace() functions that maintain
a nesting counter in the task_struct structure. But these use cases incur
a performance penalty when using the shiny new rcu_read_lock_tasks_trace()
and rcu_read_unlock_tasks_trace() functions, which nest in the same way
that SRCU does.
This means that rcu_read_lock_trace() and rcu_read_unlock_trace()
will be with us for some time. Therefore, remove the checkpatch.pl
deprecation.
Also, the rcu_read_lock_tasks_trace() and rcu_read_unlock_tasks_trace()
functions are intended for use only by BPF. Therefore, add them to
the list of functions that checkpatch complains about outside of BPF
(and of course, RCU).

Limit checkpatch warnings for normally-const structs by excluding patterns
consistent with forward declarations.
For example, the forward declaration `struct regmap_access_table;` in a
header file currently generates a warning recommending that it is
generally declared as const; however, this would apply a useless type
qualifier in the empty declaration `const struct regmap_access_table;`,
and subsequently generate compiler warnings.

Sources already have SPDX-FileCopyrightText (~40 instances) and more
appear on the mailing list, so document that it is allowed. On the
other hand SPDX defines several other tags like SPDX-FileType, so add
checkpatch rule to narrow desired tags only to two of them - license and
copyright. That way no new tags would sneak in to the kernel unnoticed.

Patches which both remove and add/modify DT binding files are
incorrectly flagged as needing to split the patch. The issue is the
check sees "dev/null" as one of the files in the patch which is not a DT

Pull locking updates from Ingo Molnar:
"Lock debugging:
- Implement compiler-driven static analysis locking context checking,
using the upcoming Clang 22 compiler's context analysis features
(Marco Elver)
We removed Sparse context analysis support, because prior to
removal even a defconfig kernel produced 1,700+ context tracking
Sparse warnings, the overwhelming majority of which are false
positives. On an allmodconfig kernel the number of false positive
context tracking Sparse warnings grows to over 5,200... On the plus
side of the balance actual locking bugs found by Sparse context
analysis is also rather ... sparse: I found only 3 such commits in
the last 3 years. So the rate of false positives and the
maintenance overhead is rather high and there appears to be no
active policy in place to achieve a zero-warnings baseline to move
the annotations & fixers to developers who introduce new code.
Clang context analysis is more complete and more aggressive in
trying to find bugs, at least in principle. Plus it has a different
model to enabling it: it's enabled subsystem by subsystem, which
results in zero warnings on all relevant kernel builds (as far as
our testing managed to cover it). Which allowed us to enable it by
default, similar to other compiler warnings, with the expectation
that there are no warnings going forward. This enforces a
zero-warnings baseline on clang-22+ builds (Which are still limited
in distribution, admittedly)
Hopefully the Clang approach can lead to a more maintainable
zero-warnings status quo and policy, with more and more subsystems
and drivers enabling the feature. Context tracking can be enabled

Pull kmalloc_obj updates from Kees Cook:
"Introduce the kmalloc_obj* family of APIs for switching to type-based
kmalloc allocations, away from purely size-based allocations.
Discussed on lkml, with you, and at Linux Plumbers. It's been in -next
for the entire dev cycle.
Before the merge window closes, I'd like to send the treewide
change (generated from the Coccinelle script included here), which
mechanically converts almost 20k callsites from kmalloc* to
kmalloc_obj*:
8007 files changed, 19980 insertions(+), 20838 deletions(-)
This change needed fixes for mismatched types (since now the return
type from allocations is a pointer to the requested type, not "void
*"), and I've been fixing these over the last 4 releases.
These fixes have mostly been trivial mismatches with const qualifiers
or accidentally identical sizes (e.g. same object size: "struct kvec"
vs "struct iovec", or differing pointers to pointers), but I did catch
one case of too-small allocation.
Summary:
- Introduce kmalloc_obj*() family of type-based allocator APIs
- checkpatch: Suggest kmalloc_obj family for sizeof allocations
- coccinelle: Add kmalloc_objs conversion script"

Some versions of tools that apply patches incorrectly allow lines that
start with 3 dashes and have additional content on the same line.
Checkpatch will now emit an ERROR on these lines and optionally convert
those lines from dashes to equals with --fix.

Currently, cacheline group macros trigger checkpatch warnings.
For example:
$ ./scripts/checkpatch.pl -g ba7e025a6c84aed012421468d83639e5dae982b0
WARNING: Missing a blank line after declarations
#58: FILE: drivers/gpio/gpio-virtio.c:32:
+ struct virtio_gpio_response res;
+ __dma_from_device_group_end();
$ ./scripts/checkpatch.pl -g 5d4cc87414c5d11345c4b11d61377d351b5c28a2
WARNING: Missing a blank line after declarations
#267: FILE: include/net/sock.h:431:
+ int sk_rcvlowat;
+ __cacheline_group_end(sock_read_rx);
But these are not actually statements - the following macros
all expand to zero-length fields:
__cacheline_group_begin()
__cacheline_group_end()
__cacheline_group_begin_aligned()
__cacheline_group_end_aligned()
__dma_from_device_group_begin()
__dma_from_device_group_end()
Add them to $declaration_macros so checkpatch recognizes this fact.

As of commit 85656ec193e9, the IDR interface is marked as deprecated in
the documentation, but no checks are made in that regard for new code.
Add the existing IDR initialization APIs to the deprecated list in

is emitted.

The checkpatch.pl script currently warns against the use of strcpy,
strlcpy, and strncpy, recommending strscpy as a safer alternative.
However, these warnings are also triggered for code under tools/ and
scripts/, which are userspace utilities where strscpy is not available.
This patch suppresses these warnings for files in tools/ and scripts/.

All of the ID tables based on <linux/mod_devicetable.h> (of_device_id,
pci_device_id, ...) require their arrays to end in an empty sentinel
value. That's usually spelled with an empty initializer entry (e.g.,
"{}"), but also sometimes with explicit 0 entries, field initializers
(e.g., '.id = ""'), or even a macro entry (like PCMCIA_DEVICE_NULL).
Without a sentinel, device-matching code may read out of bounds.
I've found a number of such bugs in driver reviews, and we even
occasionally commit one to the tree. See commit 5751eee5c620 ("i2c:
nomadik: Add missing sentinel to match table") for example.
Teach checkpatch to find these ID tables, and complain if it looks like
there wasn't a sentinel value.
Test output:
$ git format-patch -1 a0d15cc47f29be6d --stdout | scripts/checkpatch.pl -
